Animal Predators Surprised By Their Prey

Everyone naturally cheers for the underdog. Every time an apex predator targets a weak prey, people always hope the prey gets away. But these predators need to eat.

Every time we see lionspreying on defenseless animals trying to escape the grip of these mighty predators, it makes us cringe when they eventually pounce their enormous paws on their prey to bring them down to their last breath.

But that doesn’t always happen! Occasionally, the underdog gets really “pissed off” and turns the table on the predator.

Isn’t that heartwarming? Today we count down 15 times the hunter became the hunted. This is a countdown you don’t want to miss! No time for popcorn. Just sit tight and be amazed!

ZEBRA VS LION Number 15 on our list is the Zebra vs the Lion. A group of lions usually enjoy an “all you can eat” buffet when they corner a Zebra.

But one Lion attempting to kill a Zebra is no easy feat as the lion in our video discovered. This Lion thought it was going to be a breeze trying to grab the baby zebra, but its mom had another thing coming.

Both on the ground, the lion as the baby zebra by the neck as the mother zebra circles around trying to figure out how she can get her baby out of the lion’s hold.

As the lion moves away with the baby zebra’s neck in its mouth, the mother zebra charges relentlessly into the lion until the lion lets go.

The mother zebra is furious and doesn’t stop until the baby is released by the lion. In another incident, the zebra immediately tries to get the creature off it by jumping up and down and jolting as it moves.

Hungry as ever, the lion refuses to budge so the black-and-white-striped animal then ups the ante.

It then does what we can only describe as a front roll. And it works a treat, with the lion being shaken off to allow the zebra to attempt a getaway.

The enormous cat gets hold of its behind but, this time, can’t maintain its grip and can only watch as its meal for the night runs into the distance. Although nine out of ten times, Zebras will succumb to a Lion’s attack.

This Zebra would not abide by the laws of nature. Zebras are powerful animals and one kick from a Zebra can knock out a lion cold. However, lions are intelligent hunters and they usually know how to bring down the striped horse.

Even though we are aware of the fact that Lions kill for their survival, it’s always nice to see a weaker prey escape their grasp. I guess this buffet closed up early. Better luck next time!

LIONS AND RHINO Number 14 on our list is the Rhino vs the Lion. Lions are the rhinos natural predator, and even they rarely attack adults.

Rhino calves are mainly targeted by lions but some weak, injured and old adults have been reportedly killed by the felines. Rhinos are massive beasts, and it would usually take a few lions to kill an adult Rhino.

A single lion almost certainly would fail in an attempt to kill a full grown healthy adult rhinoceros. Luckily for lions, they usually hunt in groups.

If a large hunting party of lions set their minds on killing an adult rhino, I think there is chance that they could bring it down, but there is also a good chance that they could not.

Given the riskiness of the proposition, a group of lions most likely wouldn’t even consider a healthy adult rhino as a viable menu item. Like most big cats, lions are a conservative lot and would look elsewhere to satisfy their hunger.

The Rhino will not back down from a fight with lions and will pursue the felines until they abandon the hunt.

Many lions have been injured during Rhino hunts and the Rhino remains a formidable opponent and is able to defeat the lion often times! Rhinos have thick skin so before one lion can begin to injure a Rhino, it takes a lot of biting.

So much biting in fact, the Rhino has lots of time to regroup and charge the felines whose last wish is to have their bodies pierced by the Rhinos powerful horn. In this sequence, the Rhino is stuck in muddy waters and the lions are trying to figure out how to attack it and the minute the rhino is able to get out of the mud, they tackle it, but it only lasts a few seconds before the Rhino brushes them off his back like flies.
