Great People Saving Animal Lives

Everyone loves their pets and no one would want anything to happen to them. Sometimes though, animals have a knack for putting themselves in a jam.

They are curious beings and sometimes curiosity delivers more than you ask for! Thankfully, you never know who is around to help you out! Today, we count down 15 Great People Saving Animal Lives. Grab some tissue paper and hold on to those tears while we get started.

15 – PUPPY

Number 15 on our list is Puppy. A man was walking through the fields filming the surroundings, talking about a large number of dogs in the area, when he came to a hole in the ground with a puppy panicking, wailing at the top of his lungs. No kidding! The puppy was in total distress because he had a snake slithering all over him.

One could tell the puppy knew he hadn’t been invited for dinner at the snake’s house, because he probably was the dinner. The snake in question was no ordinary snake. He was a King Cobra, so the puppy had his hands full.

It was just torturing to watch and hear the poor defenseless puppy wrapped by the crawling reptile sobbing to no end. Eventually, the man came in with a “snake tong” and delicately clamped the snake to pull him out of the hole safely away from the puppy.

As the man was pulling the snake out, the puppy could climb out of the hole, but the snake just kept sliding along with the puppy as if they were tied at the hip. I know, snakes don’t have hips, but you know what I mean. Strangely enough, the man noticed another puppy in the hole quietly lying there without making a peep.

The man finally had the Cobra under control, immobilized by the “snake tong” and he pulled the second puppy out of the hole. Don’t ask me why the snake didn’t hurt the puppies the entire time he had them in his grasp because I have no clue. All’s well that ends well!

14 – DYING DOG
Number 14 on our list is a dying dog. This poor dog, who seemed to have accepted his fate to die after his owner abandoned him, had endured a suffering life.

The malnourished and emaciated canine was in horrible condition, just laying there waiting for the Grim Reaper to come and get him. Fortunately, a good samaritan found the dog, took him to a safe area, and called an animal rescue group to help.

His body was lifeless, but thankfully he was still alive. The poor animal was so messed up, you almost wish he were dead had anyone found him in this condition.

As soon as they advised the local dog rescue group, they immediately went to check it out and rushed the dog to a vet. This dog had it rough all along–abandoned, sick, and starving–but amazingly he survived.

At first, he wouldn’t eat the food that was given to him and he could not eat on his own. So they gave food to him orally with a syringe. Later on, he began eating on his own and drinking his water, a sign he wasn’t resisting anymore. I sent him to a groomer where he had the “Royal Spa“ treatment of his life.

X-rays were given just to make sure nothing was broken, and he was treated for fleas and ticks, de-wormed, and given heartworm and parasite medication. Some caring individuals saved this dog and it shows there’s still some good left in the world.

13 – FAT RAT

Number 13 on our list is a Fat Rat. This rescue is kind of funny and took place in the town of Bensheim in Germany after a chubby rat became stuck in a manhole cover.

The rat, still plump with winter speck– which translates literally as winter bacon and refers to extra pounds piled on in the colder months– became stuck after it tried to squeeze through a small gap in the sewer cover. Reminds me of some friends after a few years of marriage, when they have a hard time getting into their jeans.

Anyhow, moving along to more serious events, they eventually ended up called the Auerbach volunteer fire brigade in, as was the Rhein Neckar animal rescue team, and together a team of about eight rescuers could raise the cover and pull the rat-free. The fire brigade said the rat escaped unhurt.

The animal was subsequently released again into the wild. The fire department’s operation was completed after a good 25 minutes. After the successful rescue, two young girls presented the animal rescue team with a gift to say thank you–a drawing of a rat surrounded by love hearts, with the word “Danke!” written on it.

Even animals that are hated by most people deserve respect in times of trouble, don’t you think? Next, though, this rat has to take it easy on the food come the holidays or he may not be this lucky again.
