A turtle crawls on the runway, delaying its flight in Japan

A small turtle suddenly appeared on the runway of a plane preparing to take off inside Narita Airport, Japan.

No one on the flight from Tokyo to Okinawa, Japan expected to receive a notice from the captain that the departure had been delayed because a turtle had appeared on the runway.

The rare incident occurred on runway A at Narita Airport in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. All the passengers on the flight were extremely surprised to receive a notice from the captain before the aircraft took off.

“I have just received the information that a turtle has entered the runway as we are about to take off. The departure will therefore be temporarily delayed,” announced the captain.

Airport security personnel then approached and quickly removed the turtle from the runway area. The incident delayed the flight by approximately 10 minutes.

However, despite a 10 minute hiatus, the crew and passengers showed no embarrassment, going from a state of surprise to curiosity and then to joy when they saw that the security personnel had come out. the turtle from the dangerous position.

Some other animals, such as cats and birds, still seem to roam the tracks from time to time. However, an experienced pilot said it was the first time he had seen a turtle in the airport runway area.

The turtle is about 30cm long and weighs about 2kg. Wildlife expert Tsuyoshi Shirawa said it was a red-eared turtle that originated in southern North America but has spread around the world in recent times. Many keep this turtle as a pet, but it is considered one of the most invasive species in the world.

Tsuyoshi Shirawa suspects that the turtle that invaded the trail was born into one of the nearby creatures, gradually moving away from the area over time.

Meanwhile, the pilot suspects that the turtle may have escaped from the luggage bag of one of the passengers boarding the plane.
