When Animals Can Keep Pets Too – Stories That The Natural World Can Be Insanely Cute, Too

Giant spiders raise frogs, goats act as “guide dogs” leading blind horses to eat for 16 long years … It’s hard to believe, but things so rare have actually happened.

And like the love between humans and pets, these animals also suffer and even shed tears when their friends of different species die.

1. Giant tarantula spiders raise microscopic gourds

It is difficult to distinguish the tarantula spider which tamed the baby frog (Microhylidae), or the little frog which is the “boss”. Just know that Tarentula is the biggest spider in terms of weight, and is also the ultimate predator. Although they are not poisonous, they can still kill a poisonous snake with a simple squeeze on the jaw.

According to scientists, perhaps because this frog’s skin is full of toxins, the giant Tarantulas spider decided not to eat but to continue playing. But this theory is a bit vague, because the little gourd frog also eats spider eggs.

The gourd frog’s main prey are ants, but they are always very happy if they can clean up the “leftovers” left by the tarantula spider. That said, it’s unclear who the “pet” is in this odd relationship.

2. Leopards allow dogs to be friends and bodyguards

This is the story that happened at the Metro Richmond Zoo in the US state of Virginia. At that time, the zoo keeper put the dogs in the same cage as the cubs abandoned by their mothers.

Dogs are a species rich in love and loyalty, and leopards are aware of these emotional cues. Therefore, he allows the dog to be his “guardian”.

Thanks to the knowledge of the dog, the little one also gradually feels more confident, no longer afraid of the outside world. And only with this pretty dog “bodyguard”, it absolutely does not hurt.

3. Goats have been the “guide dogs” of blind horses for 16 years

It’s a touching love story between a horse named Charlie and an old goat named Jack.

When Charlie met Jack, he was 24 and was blind in one eye. Charlie’s owner had planned to “kill” him, but Jack made this person think again.

Every day he drove Charlie steadily through the woods to the lush pasture, then back again. One day, Charlie got entangled in a bush, unable to break free. Jack figured it out and ran straight to his house to ask his owner for help.

For 16 years, Jack has been guiding Charlie without missing a single day. It is only when the blind horse is actually lying down forever because it is too old that it stops this self-imposed obligation.

4. Gorillas are so sad that they cry because their cat is dead.

Gorillas only have 1.6% of our DNA, and it’s not clear if that’s why they love cats too.

The most famous case of a gorilla taking care of a cat is the story of Koko, a female gorilla raised in America. Koko is very intelligent, to the point that she is said to be able to understand human body language.

Koko receives a cat, named “All Ball”, because it spins like a ball. And as expected, Koko acted like a loving mother, taking care of this spinning “ball”. This love is real because when he found out All Ball had passed he really cried because he was so sad.

5. Elephants take care of stray puppies

Elephants are also one of the smartest animals, so it’s not too strange that he knows how to feed another creature.

At the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, USA, people witnessed how an elephant named Tarra took care of a stray puppy named Bella. He loves Bella so much that he spends most of his time hanging out with the little dog.

When Bella suffered a spinal injury in 2010, she was hospitalized in the shrine office and Tarra waited three weeks at the gate.

But heartbreakingly, the following year, 2011, Bella was bitten to death by a wolf. After finding Bella’s body, Tarra painfully brought the dog’s body back to the barn, where they had been together.
