Survivor leaving Bermuda Triangle recounts gruesome scene

The Bermuda Triangle is one of the most mysterious places in the world. More planes and ships are disappearing here than anywhere else. So what happens when you enter this area? A survivor returning from the Devil’s Triangle recounts his horrific experience …

In 1995, American pilot Cary Gordon Trantham flew over the Bermuda Triangle, after experiencing strange things inside this sea, Cary was lucky enough to return. At that time, media channels such as National Geographic or Discovery also covered it. Cary has also published a book about his experience titled “The Bermuda Triangle: The Road to Atlantis”.

Flight of fate

“It was a beautiful day in Key West, and I called downtown Miami to check the weather for a flight to Municipal Ormond Beach,” Cary said. I live in Key West and wanted to fly there to visit my daughter. I received a notice from the center saying the sky will be clear today.

I am the flight club director at Naval Air Station Boca Chica, and I usually fly the Piper Warrior. I have done this part of the trip several times since my daughter Katrina moved there.

This flight also landed safely, my daughter and I only had a few hours together as I had to get back to the airport before 3pm to return to Key West. We went to lunch together and went to the mall.

As they prepared to go to the airport to return home, the weather was not good, thunderstorm clouds appeared on the horizon. After consulting the center, they suggested that I change my plan, change the route. I accepted and in this new route I flew over the Bermuda Triangle area.

Horrible experience

“As I was flying west from Orlando, the plane started to shake so badly that I used all of my strength to keep my balance. The plane finally stabilized, I think it was just a normal mid-air crash.

I contacted the ground to check the weather. They say this is completely understandable as the weather in central Florida is volatile.

Shortly after, a large cloud began to form. Before my eyes, the land and the sea merged. Then it all happened!

“Suddenly it looked like someone had thrown a blanket on the plane. I lost control! The horizon disappears. I panicked, not knowing if the plane was tilting right or upside down.

I was like, “Cary, take control of the plane or you’re going to crash into the Gulf of Mexico, and they’ll never find you.”

I’m trying to look at the dashboard to check the settings. But it becomes meaningless. The compass just screwed up. The light in the cockpit is bright and dark. The altimeter starts to jump gears and there is noise in the headphones.

I try to focus on the dashboard and not look out. The heavy blanket seemed to have fallen from the plane, but I still didn’t know where I was.

I looked disoriented, shaking so much that I didn’t know if I was on land or sea. Everything outside is just dark, no city lights, no horizon, nothing.

“I tried to contact the ground on the new frequency, but the Miami center did not respond. Not receiving any help, I was completely lost. I only have one thing on my mind right now, and that is survival.

In anxiety, I lifted the plane higher and changed the frequency of communication but still no response, so I went higher, about 1200m.

Finally, I heard a woman’s voice respond. I asked him to confirm my location and direct me to the town of Marathon. After I got help from her, about 20 minutes later, I saw light on the horizon. “Is this Marathon?” I asked and she got it right.

By the time the Piper landed on the runway, I was completely exhausted. Seeing that the fuel was about to run out, I was still panicking. Once again, I realize how lucky I am that I almost became the plane that went missing in the Bermuda Triangle, which is a miracle.
